Messing

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc known for its gold-like color and good machinability. It is corrosion resistant (though less than Stainless Steel in harsh conditions) and has good electrical and thermal conductivity. It does not spark, which is important in explosive environments.

Key Properties

  • Good corrosion resistance in fresh water
  • Spark-free (important for ATEX)
  • Aesthetically pleasing (gold color)
  • Excellent machinability

Industrial Applications

Messing wordt veelvuldig toegepast in industrieën waar betrouwbaarheid essentieel is. De unieke eigenschappen maken het onvervangbaar voor:

Maritime sector (inland shipping)
Electrical components

Veelgestelde Vragen over Messing

Which quality of brass do you supply?

We normally supply CuZn39Pb3 (Ms58) due to its excellent machinability, but other alloys are possible on request.

Is brass stronger than steel?

No, brass is generally softer and less strong than steel or stainless steel. It is chosen for specific properties such as conductivity or corrosion resistance.

Can brass rust?

Brass does not rust like steel (red rust), but can oxidize (green tarnish) and dezincify in certain environments.

Need Brass parts?

We produce and supply brass bolts, nuts, and specials according to drawing. Request a quote now.
