Duplex (1.4462 / UNS S31803) has a two-phase microstructure of ferrite and austenite. This makes the material extremely strong and highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting. Super Duplex (1.4410) offers even higher performance for extremely aggressive environments.
Duplex stainless steel combines the best properties of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel. It is twice as strong as 316 stainless steel.
Super Duplex has a higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content, resulting in even higher corrosion resistance (PREN > 40) and strength than standard Duplex.
Yes, unlike austenitic stainless steel (like 304/316), Duplex is magnetic due to the ferritic portion in the structure.
We have stock of bar material in 1.4462 and can quickly produce specials and turned parts.
For the toughest conditions, choose Duplex or Super Duplex. We are happy to advise you on the right choice.
